Determination of content of Essential Oils

Put one liter round bottom flask, short neck, in the heating mantle equipped with a magnetic stirrer. Put a magnetic rod tube into the flask, connect the flask with a cooling and reservoir-scale tool as shown.

Weigh sufficient amount of material that has been destroyed, is expected to generate up to 1 ml to 3 ml of essential oil. Small seeds, fruit or pieces of leaves of herbs generally do not have to be destroyed. A very fine powder should be avoided. If this is not possible, the materials can be mixed with sawdust or sand that has been purified. Enter the amount of material that has been weighed carefully into the flask. Connect with the cooler and reservoir scale. Boil the contents of the flask with a warming suit to keep the boiling takes place is not too strong for 2 hours, or until the distilled essential oil is perfect and does not increase again in the reservoir scale.

A is water. GA is a mixture of water equal volume of concentrated glycerol. Acid is a mixture consisting of 1 part by volume of concentrated hydrochloric acid and 10 parts by volume of water.
